About My Work

My work is inspired by wilderness places and geological features. I am interested in the  way that the landscape has been eroded and rocks moved by glaciation, wind, water, heat and time. I enjoy textures formed by these processes. I also love surprises that happen when out of doors such as when a beam of sunlight suddenly makes  a small patch of mountain glow making it appear jewel-like on a muted background. These also inspire the colour in my pieces.
I work with Stoneware and porcelain clays, sometimes throwing it at the floor to imitate the movement and stretching of rock forms that happens in geological time.

I make  both small and large pieces and sell through galleries and exhibitions.
Work can also be viewed at my studio near Aberdeen by appointment.
